The Last Lap Meeting

The last lap is an open meeting held every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church of Chicago, located at 1145 Lake St., in the heart of Lincoln Park. The group welcomes anyone who wants to stop drinking or using drugs to come, but no one is forced to speak during the meeting and everyone has a chance to suggest things for future meetings.

The last lap was started by a group of AA members in 2011 who were looking for support for themselves and others struggling with addiction issues in their lives. Since then, it has become one of the most popular AA meetings in Chicago each week, and not just because it’s free.

Meeting Format: The Journey Forward Meeting is a non-smoking meeting with a sit-down format that starts on time and runs for 60 minutes. It includes two readers who are available to sign-up on a first come/first serve basis once you arrive. If there’s no sign-up sheet present when you arrive, ask someone who looks like they might be attending their first meeting if they could help out by being one of those two readers.They will probably be happy to accommodate your request.
